O Sacred Head - shoegaze style, by Page CXVI
I’ve highlighted the band Page CXVI before. They are a trio who like to take common hymns and choruses and redo them in a “shoegazing” musical style.
If you don’t know about “shoegazing” music, check out

Of course, this band emphasizes the lyrics more than a secular shoegaze band.

Here’s their recent arrangement of the classic hymn “O Sacred Head.”
I’m really diggin’ it - out of all their fresh arrangements, this is my favorite one so far.
Will it work in a congregational setting? Try it and see!

“Page CXVI is a collection of musicians that is dedicated to making Hymns accessible and known again. We got our name from C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia in The Magician’s Nephew. Page 116 in the book (CXVI in roman numerals) is where Aslan begins to sing Narnia into creation. Melody being the driving force behind creation really resonated with us, and we stuck with it!”
